Introducing your academics
Emre Eroktem
Emre earned a BEng (Hons) in Air Transport Engineering (1996) and an MSc in Mechanical Engineering (1998) from City, University of London. In 1998, Emre joined the Engineering Department at Turkish Airlines and became a Senior Engineer in 2006 and then a Chief Engineer as part of the Continuing Airworthiness Management Organisation (CAMO).
While at Turkish Airlines, Emre carried our part-time teaching, topics including fleet and aircraft configuration management. He is currently the Programme Director of the MSc Aviation programmes at City.
Professor Richard Curran
Richard studied Mechanical Engineering at Queen's University Belfast (QUB) in 1990 and completed a PhD in Aeronautical Engineering on the experimental and numerical aerodynamic analysis of air turbines used in ocean wave converters.
He returned to QUB as a Reader on integrating aerodynamics, Design For Manufacture, cost engineering, digital manufacture for Product Life Management, working closely with Bombardier Aerospace and Airbus.
He held the prestigious KLM Chair of Engineering and Maintenance for the last 12 years and developed an educational and research programme with a view to sustainable integration of airlines, airports and Air Traffic Management.
As the Head of Aviation Management at City, he aims to drive global aviation management and system design integration by the core values of sustainability and reduced environmental impact, efficient and cost effective operations, and safe and secure passenger experience.
Ricky was also judge at the the Aviation Industry Awards which celebrates the most innovative individuals and companies driving excellence in UK's aviation sector.
