Announcing the winner of the Award in the category “Distinguished STEM Alumni” for 2022
The STEM Alumni Awards attracted a significant number of very strong nominations in both categories: “Distinguished STEM Alumni” and “Achieving Excellence in STEM” awards. Both categories have been assessed by a judging panel and we are happy to announce the winners.
The awardees will be presented with their awards at a dedicated “Alumni Award Ceremony” on the 7th November (postponed from 16th September). Further details on the Ceremony will be communicated to alumni, staff and all students in the School at a later stage.
The winner of the “Distinguished STEM Alumni ” for 2022 is: Sir Julian Young KBE CB FREng CEng FIET (Graduated from City University in 1985, with a Degree in Air Transport Engineering. He is President of IET (The Institution of Engineering and Technology)

- Distinguished STEM Alumni Award for alumni who have achieved significant success within the respective STEM discipline.
- Excellence in STEM Achievement Alumni Award for alumni who have made significant progress in their careers within ten years of graduating from the School.
