CityNav

Making your way around a new environment isn't always easy, particularly when its a university campus with lots of buildings and corridors. That's why the University has its own free mobile and web app, CityNav, which can be used to navigate around campus and even within buildings.

One of its super handy features is that you can also search for specific types of spaces, such as reception desks, services and also student areas.

For mobile, CityNav is available on:

When using it on your phone, please be cautious of your surroundings when in public spaces.

You can also navigate campus from any device using the web app.

Collecting your City ID Card after completing registration

If you're studying on-campus, collecting your City ID card marks the end of the registration process. Your ID card will let you access spaces, both general and department specific, access services such as the Library and printing and for undergraduates, count your attendance in classes.

If you are a home student: Once your ID check has been finalised, you will receive a notification to confirm your fully registered status for your course. This notification will also include a link to a booking system to book a slot for you to collect your ID card on campus.

If you are an international student: At the point of in person registration, your ID and immigration documents need to be verified in-person before you can become fully registered, you will also receive your ID card at the same time.

A step by step guide of the registration process, including what to do if you're yet to register, is available on the Student Hub.

Count Me In

To register your attendance in classes on campus, you need to tap your card in on the Count me in card readers. If there are occasions where your attendance is lower than City feels is necessary for you to succeed, the University can identify this and offer support where needed at the earliest opportunity. This is not to catch you out, but to reach out a helping hand and look at how City can get you back on track.

Count Me In is for undergraduate students only.

Food and drink

City has a variety of outlets across its buildings for both food and drink. In most buildings you'll find a café to get hot drinks, sandwiches, light bites and treats as well as the main canteen, EatC1ty, located within University Building in Northampton Square.

Each outlet has its own opening times which you can find on the Student Hub.

How you will learn

Unlike education you may have experienced before, as a City student education is a partnership and you are ultimately responsible for your own learning experience. City is committed to supporting you to succeed during your time here and in your future aspirations, but it's important to remember that you create this experience and this starts with taking an active part in both teaching and extra-curricular sessions, engaging with your peers and proactively seeking help from staff if you feel lost or things become difficult.

An accessible City

Do you know how to make digital content accessible? The 'Introduction to Accessibility' module is a foundation-level course that gives you information on mental health, cognition and neurodiversity, hearing, physical and motor skills and vision disabilities, providing you with digitally inclusive skills and strategies that will increase your reach.

Once you have your City IT account set up and have access to Moodle you can self-enrol on the module.
